There are currently ten full-time faculty members at the ILST, consisting of two professors, two associate professors, and six assistant professors. In addition, the ILST has jointly appointed an associate professor with the Center for General Education at
The ILST’s faculty members are renowned for both their dedicated teaching and research capabilities. Their expertise includes the following five areas: biotechnology (biomedicine) and law, environmental law, info-communications law, intellectual property law, and international and comparative law. We offer courses corresponding to each of the above research areas.
The ILST offers master’s degrees and enrolls approximately 25 students per year. In the beginning, we only admitted students who have no prior legal training but started to admit students with a primary legal degree in 2002. There are currently 101 LL.M. students enrolled at the ILST. The faculty-student ratio is approximately 1:9.2.
The ILST has mapped out an expansion plan for the upcoming decade, including the launch of a Ph.D. program and the appointment of more faculty members. These efforts will help us achieve an elevated level of academic excellence.
