◆本書摘要（Abstract）：
區域經濟合作（整合）已成近來國際經濟法以及國際政治經濟學之重要課題，然而，政治敵對之國家或實體間如何進行經濟合作，仍未充分研究。由於貿易與投資協定具有高度政治意涵，因此，在政治敵對之國家或實體間應如何進行貿易與投資談判，進而促進經濟合作，殊值研究。在政治對立的國家與實體中，分裂國家又具有特殊性，在國際法上，分裂國家的成員具有潛在主權爭議，因此，在主權爭議中，彼此如何進行經濟合作，而不增加或減損主權意涵，或是導致間接承認？或是相反地，主權爭議如何複雜化經濟合作，從而延滯經濟合作的進程，乃是本書研究之重心。本書以台海關係，賽普勒斯島，以及朝鮮半島為案例研究，試圖勾勒不同分裂國家在主權爭議下進行經濟合作，其策略或相關影響因素；並試圖在既有區域整合理論的基礎上，討論潛在武力威脅對於經濟合作的影響，以及傳統國際關係理論對於分裂國家之區域合作有何助益，並從國際法的角度探討分裂國家所涉及主權爭議以及承認如何影響經濟合作之遂行。
Built upon three contemporary case studies on North-South Korea, China-Taiwan, and North-South Cyprus – representative pairs of 'divided nations', broadly defined – the book explores from both an empirical and a conceptual perspective the underlying factors, approaches and patterns that influence the economic relationship between the two sides. The book examines complex dynamics and identifies critical factors across the case studies, making a timely contribution to debates surrounding sovereignty, democracy and legitimacy in the context of international economic laws given the shifting geopolitical landscape. It further informs countries that do not share the same features of divided nations but nonetheless experience diplomatic crises or military conflicts, which render their economic cooperation sensitive and strenuous.
